2020 Meeting Minutes

Q1 2020

@1400 Conference Call with Board Members
In attendance: Barry Woodward, Debbie Vance, Debra Joe Wimpy, Jason Lawson, Trisha Orr, Deidra Moore, Ricky Harlowe, Melissa Alterio, Greg Whitaker, Mike Smith, Steve Usher, Paula, Linda Davis, Shandel Graham and Michael Nix.
Meeting opened: 10:00 by President Barry Woodward
President Woodward welcomed everyone and conducted roll call.
Minutes of December, 2019 meeting were presented. Motion was made to accept by Deidra Moore, seconded by Ricky Harlowe. No discussion. Motion passed.
Results of election were presented.

Treasurer report: Debra Joe reported:
  • Beginning Balance @ End of December $11,380.02
  • Paid GECC $3,366.22
  • Paid Post Office $118.00
  • Deposited Two (2) new Memberships @ $50.00 ea $100.00
  • Paid Website Fees $1,200.00
  • Adjusted Balance $6,795.80

Note: Debra Joe advised that we need new members. Deidra will email the Director group with encouragement to join and invoice.

Discussion:
  • Still not on the GECC agenda. Barry advised he is working on this and is trying to possibly get 30-45 minutes following GECA or maybe provide lunch on the day that lunch is on their own. He and Debbie will look into this.
  • Expressed condolences for Michael Nix family and loss of Grandfather.
  • Michael Nix advised that they have a 4-hour session blocked to discuss GECA matters at the GECC. PSAP Assessments will be discussed. Time taken will depend on what the Directors ask.
  • Barry asked for volunteers to work on by-laws; Tricia and Debbie will work on these.
  • Tricia asked about the 911 Day at the Capitol. Barry advised somewhere around the 10th of February but there is no definite date yet. He will let everyone know when he hears of a firm date.

Old Business: None heard.
New Business: No further heard.
Motion was made by Barry to adjourn with second by Deidra Moore. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 1030 hours.

Meeting opened: Called to order by President Barry Woodward.
Approval of January 30, 2020 minutes from conference call meeting. Motion to approve by Ricky Harlowe, seconded by Debbie Vance. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

Treasurer Report given by Deb Wimpy:

  • Three checks totaling $150.00 to deposit.
  • Bank Balance = $6,795.80 + $150.00 deposit forthcoming = $6,945.80 Adj. Bal.

Old Business Discussed – directed by President Woodward:

  • 911 Director Association online voting.
  • 911 Director Association working on website and Pay Pal option should be coming soon to allow for paying membership online. Invoices are updated.
  • Tricia and Debbie are working together on the by-laws for the association.
  • The 911 Director Association is working to ensure transparency in all we do.
  • The 911 Director Association will be working to provide training links on the website.

New Business Discussed – directed by President Woodward:

  • Discussed the possibility of bringing back the 911 Hero Awards for the kids that do exceptional with 911 calls; we may bring this back to the Fall Conference.
  • Open Discussion:
    • President Barry Woodward covered:
      • How the 911 Director Association was formed of members of APCO and NENA and how it would be integral to the GECA State Board.
      • 911 Director Association is working on by-laws.
      • Mr. Nix is working on the 911 Day at the Capitol, nothing further to report on that.
      • Nothing new on legislative updates.
      • 911 Director Association will be doing voting by website.
    • Michael Terrell with Coweta County advised he would like to see a state retirement for 911 such as POAB.
    • Ricky advised everyone to remember 911 Communications Week and Melissa reminded everyone that we could share what you are doing online.
    • Michael Nix reminded everyone to come to the GECA meeting the following day.

No further business; meeting adjourned. Motion by Deidra Moore; seconded by Debbie Vance. All in favor, none opposed. Motion carried.
